UPDATE ON JESSICA:
Jessica is doing well post the mini-surgery to replace her central line catheter. She received another ketamine booster and we continue to see the small improvements in the movements of the left leg. Every day she works on the leg to try and move it more. As she says: "In my brain the leg is moving off the bed", but in reality it isn't quite doing that yet. These continued boosters are the "ticket" to the improvement of these movements! Her right leg only moves the toes and slight twitching of the upper right thigh - but we are happy with any type of movement in that leg as it is the original site of the tick bite and subsequent Lyme disease infection. It is in the right leg where the RSD was first triggered by the infection.
Also, Jessica's bloodwork revealed a very low red blood cell count and it is possible she may require another blood transfusion while here in Mexico! Dr. Cantu would like to wait a day or so to see if the counts go up on their own so she won't need another one. Please pray for that to happen, and that she won't require the transfusion.
We hope this day finds you all well. I am constantly amazed each day with my daughter Jessica. She is a fighter. She is determined to be well again! To walk one day again! For her vision to be restored back to normal, so that one day she can be the doctor she wants to be! We ask God to answer all the prayers that are said on her behalf in so many different parts of the world. We know God's timing is perfect, but we respectfully pray for God to "speed it up a bit!!!"
All our love from Mexico,
Sarah Gina & Jessica

Hello Jessica and Gina...I had a thought today, that I've actually had probably at least a hundred times since you guys were living with Jimmy & Cecilia, and for whatever reason, I don't think I've ever shared the following: Jessica, you have changed my life in so many ways and have continued to do so, and it's crazy to think I never told you before but, I do want you to know that because of you and your mom, I have such an appreciation for my life in a way I didn't have before. I appreciate the little great things a lot more and, if I even think to sweat the stuff I used to think was so important, I no longer let myself. I think about you and how much you've been through. I think you are the most courageous hero in my life (sorry to my mom, she may have gotten bumped down a spot). So when I'm faced with my own daily struggles, I ask myself, is it worth it to spend my energy on this when I have so much to be grateful for? And so you know, your experience has reminded mem to ask myself this question a lot!I remind myself how ridiculous it is to get angry or sad about the things that don't really matter, and I continue to learn that lessen everytime I think of you. You have no idea how much of an influence you've had on my life these last few years. You are an inspiration in so many ways and for that I thank YOU. Every wish I make is for you. Thought I'd let you know =)....Sandra
ReplyDeleteDearest Jessica and Gina, You may never know in this lifetime how many people like Sandra and me that you are influencing by your example. This in itself is amazing and something we could have never seen beforehand. In doing everything that you can to fight for your health and future you are letting us fight with you and helping us appreciate more in our own lives. What incredible women you are. Thank you for being in my life and all of our lives. I will continue to pray for you. Hang in there!! Love always, Angel
