Yesterday Jessica was brought down to surgery to have a new central catheter put in due to the other catheter not functioning correctly and to also avoid any infections. She continues with her "small steps" towards recovery. The neurodermatitis on her face and upper body seems less red and angry and she continues on antibiotics and a special antibiotic lotion for that. She also was able to eat 2 french fries and also crumble up graham crackers into her "atole de maicena". This is a warm puddling-like mixture that she has been having for the past few months that she says is really good. We have been recommending this to all the new patients that come- as it is easy to digest and very comforting as well. Translated from spanish it means:"cornflower drink", but it doesn't taste like corn at all!

Also, yesterday, Pastor Long from the Union Church of Monterrey came to visit. He has become very special to us. He brought communion for Jessica and I and he also read a special message to Jessica that he said came to him from the Lord for her. It is from Phillipians 4: 4-7:

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus".

Thank you all for your continued prayers and support for Jessica. Please pray for relief from the pain, especially in the right leg and also the headaches. Keep sending us your comments, stories, etc. as I read them to her faithfully each day and they really mean alot to us!

Special shout out to Michelle - my 13 year old daughter back home in N.Y. She is getting her braces off today - after having them on for 2 1/2 years!!! This is a big day for her and I told her I will be with her in spirit today. Her big sister Katherine and her Dad will be going with her to the orthodontist to get them off. Congratulations Michelle --- you did it --- and you will look even more beautiful now!!!(If that's even possible - since you are already so beautiful mooshie!!!)

In God's Love,
Sarah Gina (Jessica's Mom)*

  2. Reading your blog is like opening little gifts everyday!

I am always amazed to see how God is working in your lives, through His people and in the healing we are seeing in your sweet Jessica.

It was just a short while ago Jessica was enjoying a Hershey's Kiss and NOW she is eating french fries and oranges! Those small steps are starting to really add up!

We are so glad to hear the neurodermatitis is lessening.

There are so many things to give Him thanks for (even in the difficult times).

We will keep praying for you both (and your family back home). Congratulations to Michelle (it is always nice when those braces finally come off).

Hang in there, Jessica! May you feel His peace as you continue to take small steps forward in your journey.

    With love & prayers,
    The Turners

  3. In Christ Alone - Michael English

In Christ alone will I glory
Though I could pride myself in battles won
For I've been blessed beyond measure
And by His strength alone I overcome
Oh, I could stop and count successes
    Like diamonds in my hand
But those trophies could not equal
To the grace by which I stand

In Christ alone I place my trust
And find my glory in the power of the cross
In every victory let it be said of me
My source of strength, my source of hope
    Is Christ alone

In Christ alone will I glory
For only by His grace I am redeemed
    Only His tender mercy
Could reach beyond my weakness to my need
Now I seek no greater honor
Than just to know Him more
And to count my things but losses
To the glory of the Lord

In Christ alone I place my trust
And find my glory in the power of the cross
In every victory let it be said of me
My source of strength, my source of hope
Is Christ alone I place my trust
And find my glory in the power of the cross
In every victory let it be said of me
My source of strength, my source of hope
    Is Christ alone

My source of strength, my source of hope
    Is Christ alone

  4. Today is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad.
I am but it is damp, dark, windy and just an indoor type of day. But I know the sun will shine again and give us warmth and a smile to our face.
May the Lord bring sunshine to you and yours.

  5. Good morning ladies. It's getting really sunny and warmer in Florida. I can see Jessica relaxing on the lani smiling as God fills her sweet body up with his love from the sun! You can hear the kids playing in the other yards and Carol and Ray bringing over oranges and chocolate. I'm there too and we are singing Jessica's favorite song. Can you feel the love!

Today is a busy day. We are getting the invites mailed today for the upcoming Jessica's Journey Fundraiser on Marco Island, at Marco Lutheran Church on the 25th, at 11-2. It will be a light luncheon jewelry fashion show and anyone and everyone is invited. Watch for more details.
