48,000 Views Of Blog!!!

Hi To All,

The Month of May is designated as Lyme Disease Awareness Month. This is something that Jessica has been very passionate about. In the beginning of her illness, she created a facebook group dedicated to lyme disease awareness and prevention. This group currently has over 10,000 members! In honor of her commitment to this cause, this month I will be posting different information about lyme disease with each blog post. It is our hope and prayer that with this knowledge, no one need to suffer the devastating effects of lyme disease and its co-infections. May God bless all those who suffer daily with this illness and also bless the doctors who treat them.

Lyme Disease Fact #1:
Lyme disease is transmitted by the bite of a tick, and the disease is prevalent across the United States and throughout the world. Ticks know no borders and respect no boundaries. A patient's county of residence does not accurately reflect his or her Lyme disease risk because people travel, pets travel, and ticks travel. This creates a dynamic situation with many opportunities for exposure to Lyme disease for each individual

Update on Jessica:

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a number of days. Jessica had not been feeling well this past week and so changes had to be made in her intrathecal pump medications. It seems that whenever changes have to be made, her body's sympathetic system goes haywire and it then causes a cascade of events to occur. This morning she seems to be on an upswing, so thank God for that. Yesterday Devon & Cathy left to go back home to Connecticut. We also got to meet Blair Webber and his friend George. Blair is a former coma patient from Canada who is back for boosters as well. What a nice man - who has also gone through so much in fighting RSD. He also has lesions on his arm, just like Jessica. He came to our room last night to meet Jessica and he was so encouraged to see how her ulcers were healed, with only the scars left behind visible under the skin. His hope is that the ketamine will help to heal his lesions as well and help to alleviate some of his pain. Please pray for Jessica & Blair and let us praise God always for his amazing love & grace.

  1. It is nice to see you posting again. A brilliant idea to mark the month of Lyme with Lyme facts! Thanks for that!

Jessica, let's hope the new concoctions bring you relief very soon and that you will be resting more comfortably. I heard the sun was shining over there. Here, it is raining and cold. I look forward to seeing you again soon and share some of that Mexican sun and warmth with you and your mom!

    hasta pronto!

  5. Sarah,

I have been following your blog since I spent time with you and Devon in Monterrey last fall. I cheered when Jessica's sun glasses came off and again when the noise cancelling headphones came off. I cheered loudly when Jessica moved to the couch. Cathy tells me that there has been a remarkable change in Jessica since I last saw her in October...that she has gained weight, is eating soft foods, is talking conversationally and is upbeat and optimistic. You both have just plowed through the setbacks and ultimately got a solid foothold and gained ground. You are both very strong women whom I so admire. I look forward to hearing and reading more good things.

    love, Pam

  6. Dearest Jessica and Gina, You are truly surrounded by the grace of God today and every day. Although we are all praying for you and sending you positive thoughts and well wishes, it is you that must do the hard work of healing, both physically and emotionally. I can also imagine that some days are easier than others. May God continue each and every day to restore your tremendous commitment to healing and strength to carry on for another day. May He continue to strengthen your faith and trust in Him. May He continue to hold you in the palm of His hand as you work towards restoring your health. I think about you and pray for you every day. Today I was remembering how one day, I visited you, Gina, at your house on Huntington Road. You had just decided to paint your kitchen a couple of days before, and were in the process of turning it into a bright (yellow?) color with a burst of energy and a cheery smile. I also had a good laugh as I remembered the sign in your back yard: Out of my mind, be back in five minutes!! (I did love that one!) Jessica's journey back to health is a challenging one, but you two ladies are meeting it head-on with true grit and determination, good humor and prayer. I and so many more people add my prayers to yours as we continue to STORM HEAVEN on Jessica's behalf. Hang in there!!! Love always, Angel xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
